This volume is an impressive collection of research into output quality parameters of simultaneous interpreting, focusing on how users of the interpreted versions of speeches assess target texts. After a previous Spanish-language publication in 2007 (Collados Aís et al. 2007), this German-language volume presents most of those and a few other studies coordinated by Ángela Collados Aís and several of her colleagues from different Spanish universities who have carried out large-scale empirical investigations of mainly prosodic and paraverbal parameters of simultaneously interpreted material. As Ángela Collados Aís states in her preface, the ten chapters are based on very similar research methodologies, each addressing one of the prosodic phenomena of simultaneous interpreting. The structure of the different chapters is rather uniform, each opening with a detailed discussion of interdisciplinary perspectives followed by an overview of relevant findings of the different neighbouring disciplines and a summary of results of previous interpreting studies as far as they relate to the question under investigation. A detailed account of relevant empirical studies is given in each chapter, and suggestions for potential further studies conclude each of them.
