This volume, dedicated to the memory of Martha Cheung, is a very mixed bag of papers. The name and nature of the series (edited by Christopher N. Candlin) in which it appears suggests an intended readership of linguists and applied linguists, perhaps also language teachers, who would like to know more about translation research. However, the aim of the volume is not made explicit until Halverson’s paper, on p. 117, where we are told that “[t]he purpose of this volume is to look forward, to see where recent, ongoing and upcoming work may lead,” which suggests that Translation Studies (TS) scholars are also targeted. The various contributions do indeed conclude with brief sections on future prospects, but much of the material covered along the way will be familiar to translation scholars.
