    This collection of essays owes its existence to a small-scale colloquium organized to honour Bram Verhoeff on the occasion of his retirement from the chair of English literature at the University of Utrecht. The editors—both are anglicists—decided to select literary translation from the topics discussed in the seminar as the central theme for their book and commissioned several specialists in the field to contribute further papers.
