The translation schools in Spanish universities have long been in need of an introductory textbook able to orient students in their initial years of study. This text's co-authors, of whom the first-named is currently the director of the Las Palmas school, have done their best to respond to this need. They give an overview covering the history of translation in Spain, various concepts of translation, practical translation techniques and specific difficulties such as the rendering of proper names and the use of terminology.
