In 1995 Gideon Toury published an article entitled "The Notion of Assumed Translation" where he summed up his ideas about translation expounded in his previous publications. Toury added a provoking subtitle, "An Invitation to a New Discussion", and the importance of the issues discussed fully merit a positive response to this invitation.
