Зміст

Поєднання поняття перекладу – як письмового, так і усного – з поняттям історії передбачає підхід до стосунків між ними під двома кутами зору: яке значення може мати переклад для розуміння історії, зокрема культурних практик (політики, науки, релігії, мови, засобів масової інформації, літератури тощо), та, в свою чергу, яке значення може мати історія для розуміння багатогранних проявів перекладу (як процесу, продукту, тропу, інституту, теорії тощо)? Хоча обидва ці кути зору, поза всяким сумнівом, достатньо цікаві, щоб їх вивчати заради них самих, та останньому надалі віддаватиметься перевага. Історія під цим кутом зору розуміється як специфічний погляд, застосований до множини матеріальних об'єктів, які підпадають під категорію «переклад». Звичайно, немає необхідності нагадувати, що, як і будь-яка інший науковий погляд, історичний здійснює методологічну редукцію реального світу.
