Усний та письмовий переклад жестових мов [Sign language interpreting and translating]

Усний переклад мови жестів зазвичай означає переклад з/ чи на мову жестів або з усної мови, або з іншої мови жестів. Однак, типовою є ситуація перекладу з усної мови на мову жестів. Зазначимо, що мови жестів – це природно утворені мови, які існують незалежно від усних мов. Також існує процес, відомий як транслітерація, під час якого усна мова буквально розкодовується та передається за допомогою рук, але цей процес відрізняється від перекладу з / на справжню мову жестів.
