Статья « Переводоведение » (“Translation Studies”) в « Справочнике по переводоведению » (Handbook of Translation Studies) рискует показаться излишней и поверхностной, а то и вовсе бессмысленным всплеском демагогии. Так или иначе, всё, что сегодня происходит в переводоведении, будет раскрыто в других статьях, начиная от первой – « Адаптация » (Adaptation) – и кончая последней – « Интернет и перевод » (Web and translation). С другой стороны, термин « переводоведение » (“Translation Studies”) – далеко не бесспорный, поэтому в этой статье я постараюсь уйти от рассуждений о противоречивости термина, сосредоточившись на определении, истории развития и теориях переводоведения, начиная со второй половины ХХ века. Эта статья может послужить основой для понимания той области, с которой мы имеем дело, и которую можно дополнить более подробными сведениями, изложенными в этом издании; а также я попытаюсь осветить в ней некоторые спорные вопросы переводоведения.
