Зміст

Неоднозначність виразу «художній переклад» (“literary translation”) уможливлює виокремлення в ньому як «нехудожнього» перекладу «художніх» текстів (напр., дослівні відтворення вірша з навчальною чи філологічною метою)), так і «художній» переклад «нехудожніх» текстів (напр., релігійних). Але здебільшого цей вираз стосується «художніх» перекладів, виконаних на основі «художніх» оригіналів, які передбачають збереження або ж певне відтворення естетичних намірів чи впливів, які можна простежити в оригінальному тексті. Однак, варто пам’ятати, що статус «художніх текстів» або ж, власне, «перекладів» цілком залежить від усталених традицій, норм та комунікативних функцій і є водночас відображенням внутрішніх характеристик тексту (див. Літературознавство і перекладознавство (Literary Studies and Translation Studies)).
