Una entrada sobre “Traductología” en un Manual de traductología corre el riesgo de ser considerada superflua, superficial o torpe. Después de todo, lo que está sucediendo en traductología seguramente será cubierto en otras entradas, que van desde “Adaptación” hasta “Web y traducción”. Pero el término traductología sigue siendo controvertido y esta entrada intentará reducir los riesgos concentrándose en su identidad, en su historia, desarrollo e ideas desde la segunda mitad del siglo XX. Esto puede servir de contexto para la comprensión de áreas tratadas más detalladamente en otras partes del volumen, así como para realzar asuntos particulares sobre el debate.
