Abstract
In this paper I review the context and history of ALAA’s involvement in the development of the 1987 National Policy on Languages. I look at other contributions to the volume and use my review of both those articles and the history/politics leading into the 1987 policy to make some suggestions about how ALAA might address some of the language policy issues confronting us fifty years later.
