About us
John Benjamins Publishing Company is an independent academic publisher of books, journals and online resources in linguistics and the language sciences.
Founded by John and Claire Benjamins, today's management is in the hands of second generation CEO Seline Benjamins. The company is based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
Over the years JB has been firmly rooted in every imaginable subfield of Linguistics and Language Studies. In the past decades, JB has been building a significant list of print and online titles as well as electronic reference works.
JB publications are selected under expert academic editorship and peer-reviewing by and for academic researchers and trainers, and include, in addition to works of pure research, excellent university-level course books. JB takes pride in maintaining a constant dialogue with the various academic communities to stay at the forefront of research developments and needs, and in serving as an academic exchange for scholars from every part of the world. JB offers authors Open Access through payment of an APC, and the company has arranged a considerable number of Read and Publish deals with institutions from which academics may benefit.
In 2023 JB published over 90 new book titles and 87 journals. JB has an active interest in the acquisition and launch of new projects (journals and books). All books and journals available in print and online. The backlist of books contains over 4500 available titles. Complete back-sets of journals are available in print and online, or online-only. An increasing number of librarians make use of our attractive offer of Evidence-Based Acquisition of e-books.
JB works with agents and distributors world-wide. In addition to our own JB e-Platform, we offer our ebooks on major vendor platforms.
