The research on personification and this volume would not have been
possible without the support of many people and institutions. First and foremost, I
am grateful to the Hungarian Academy of Sciences for the Bolyai János Research
Grant. It provided me with the means for focused scientific work on corpus building
and analysis, ensuring constant motivation to improve the quality of my research. I
would like to express my gratitude to the Faculty of Arts at Eötvös Loránd
University for their ongoing support of my research through awards and for providing
me with a sabbatical to write this book. I am especially thankful to my colleagues
in the ELTE DiAGram Research Group for Functional Linguistics, the ELTE Stylistic
Research Group, and the ELTE MetaID Research Group. These research groups enabled me
to collaborate with outstanding researchers across various fields of functional and
cognitive linguistics. Their suggestions have consistently inspired me to improve my
scientific work. I also wanted to say a special thank to Ninke Stukker, Nanon Labrie
and Ymke Verploegen that they accepted my manuscript into the series “Converging
Evidence in Language and Communication Research” and supported its publication with
careful editorial work. Finally, my heartfelt thanks go out to my family; without
their emotional support, I would not have even started this research.
