Submission

Manuscripts should preferably be submitted through the journal’s online submission and manuscript tracking site. Please consult the Short Guide to EM for Authors before you submit your paper.

Linguistic Variation wants novel research contributions to be quickly accessible. We we ensure that our double-blind peer-review procedure is fast. Reviewing takes only one round; on the basis of the reviewers’ recommendation the editor will decide either for acceptance (with revisions) or rejection. Within 2-3 months after submission a decision is thus made. When the article is accepted the editor will ensure that any open issues are adequately addressed before final publication.

Generally, book reviews are commissioned by the editors. Please do not send unsolicited book review submissions. If you would like to review a book for Linguistic Variation (or would like to inquire about having your own book reviewed), please send your idea to the Book Reviews editor for consideration.

For the benefit of production efficiency, please follow these guidelines in the preparation of your article or book review.

Open Access

Articles accepted for this journal can be made Open Access through payment of an Article Publication Charge (APC) of EUR 1800 (excl. tax); more information can be found on the publisher's Open Access Policy page. There is no fee if the article is not to be made Open Access and thus available only for subscribers.

Corresponding authors from institutions with which John Benjamins has a Read & Publish arrangement can publish Open Access without paying a fee; information on the institutions and which articles qualify, can be found on this page.
