El portuñol literario como práctica translingüe Hacia una lectura decolonial de la literatura fronteriza sudamericana

This paper explores literary portuñol as a translingual practice by comparing two poetic works from South America's border regions: “NósOtros” (2014) by Uruguayan writer Fabián Severo and “Uma flor na solapa da miséria” (2005) by Brazilian-Paraguayan writer Douglas Diegues. Focusing on an underexplored intersection between linguistics and literary studies, the article analyzes both the hybrid linguistic composition of the texts and their thematic dimensions. The theoretical framework combines literary sociolinguistics, translanguaging theory, and postcolonial linguistics. The findings show recurring patterns of linguistic hybridization, including phonetic adaptations, orthographic experimentation, and lexical innovation. At the thematic level, both works address border identity, educational exclusion, and social critique. The article argues that literary portuñol functions as a decolonial linguistic-literary project, as it challenges purist language ideologies inherited from the coloniality of power while legitimizing historically marginalized border voices and epistemologies.
