La memoria del presente. El estallido social en la novela Imágenes de la muerte de Ramón Díaz Eterovic

The paper examines the way the Social Outburst (Estallido social) that originated in Santiago de Chile in October 2019 impacted on the detective saga by Ramón Diaz Eterovic. The author of the Heredia series is known for becoming a representative of so called neopolicial narrative, which is characterised by social criticism and tendency to rewrite the troubled history of Latin American countries. By analysing how the social movement of 2019 was portrayed in the volume Imágenes de la muerte (2022), I argue that the author employs Heredia´s ethical system in order to convert present-day events of the social protest into a significant element of the Chilean collective imaginary.
