This chapter studies the methodology of traditional Spanish linguistic atlases to obtain syntactic data. After setting the background, from the notes of Tomás Navarro Tomás in his questionnaires, the way of asking syntax in the Atlas Lingüístico de la Península Ibérica is reconstructed. To what extent the subsequent atlases followed that method is also traced and we can see how the recent ones, besides assuming this tradition, choose to complement it with more spontaneous syntactic materials.
