Negation in Eastern Khanty
The paper explores negation in the eastern-most Khanty dialects with less than a dozen elderly speakers remaining. The analysis stems from extended fieldwork experience and legacy data reviews.* The main purpose is to discuss the key morphosyntactic, semantic and pragmatic features of negation based on a maximally representative data pool and approached within a conventional theoretical and methodological framework consistent with other studies on Uralic negation. This will allow the integration of this data into the debates regarding negation from the areal Siberian, genetic Uralic and wider typological perspectives.
