Quelques remarques sur l’histoire de la linguistique
Le but de ces remarques sur l’histoire de la linguistique est très modeste, – poser quelques questions de principe, discuter quelques points de vue récents et en tirer quelques conclusions, non pas pour trancher les problèmes une fois pour toutes, mais plutôt pour provoquer une discussion méthodologique: L’histoire de la linguistique est-elle une discipline nouvelle? Est-elle bien une discipline proprement dite? Quelles sont les qualités requises pour travailler dans ce domaine? Comment en délimiter le sujet ou les sujets? Et quels sont les buts de celui qui s’occupe de l’histoire de la linguistique?
