Assimilation vs Translation of SL Lexical Items. Factors and Criteria.

The paper is divided into three segments. First, it highlights the major factors that lead to the adoption of foreign lexicon. The second segment focuses on the criteria for identifying foreign words assimilated into Arabic. The study concludes with a survey of the factors that lead to alterations in the pronunciation and morphology of assimilated items.
