The dialogues in-between: A phenomenological perspective on women's oral history interviews
Saara Tuomaala | Academy of Finland, Department of History
In this article, I consider aspects of the process of recalling one’s subjectivity and body in different experiential levels in oral history interviews of elderly women in Finland. I discuss this dialogical process, including the dimension of gender, from the phenomenological point of view, especially philosophy and feminist Maurice Merleau-Ponty’s phenomenological interpretations combined with experiential and narrative analysis.
Keywords: body phenomenology, experiential analysis, gender studies, oral narration, the sites of memory
