Chapter 18
Madrid–Estocolmo–Londres–Nova York
As etapas da longa viaxe do Pergamiño Vindel
This article traces the history of the Vindel Parchment since the moment it was discovered, in the early part of the 20th century, until it was acquired by Pierpont Morgan Library & Museum in 1977. To do this, we go through the three main stages of its trip, starting in Madrid, the city where it was found by the bookseller Pedro Vindel. Next, we travel to Stockholm, where it was taken by its first buyer, Rafael Mitjana. It was kept there until 1961, when it was acquired in an auction by Albi Rosenthal, who was based in London. Finally, it was taken to New York after Rosenthal sold it to the Morgan Library in 1977.
